Abstract

The animation industry has developed along with changes in existing technology. Methods for making animation that used to use paper and hand-drawn drawings have been digitized using computer technology. Movement models in animation can be created using various methods, one of which is the inverse kinematics method. Inverse kinematics is a method used to find angular variables based on positional coordinates. The purpose of this research is to test the inverse kinematics method and implement it in 2D animation for the character Obed. Obed is a digital comic that contains funny stories from the people of Papua. The research phase begins with taking the results of bone angle measurements, after which it is continued with applying bone angles to the 2D character Obed and the last stage is testing and animating the Obed character. The test was carried out by looking at Obed's character movements using bone angle measurements and Obed's character movements not using bone angle measurements. It is hoped that this research can provide a solution so that 2D animation can be more accurate with movements according to the angle of freedom of the bones in humans.
